As reported in the October 7, 2010 edition of the Sakonnet Times, the Town of Portsmouth issued one of its first texting citations. Fatal Tiverton Car Accident
As reported by Bryan Rourke in the October 4, 2010 edition of the Providence Journal, a car accident on Main Road in Tiverton killed one (1) person. Car Accident Results in Serious Injuries

Distracted Teen Drivers = Crime
In 2009, the Rhode Island General Assembly passed legislation to ban text messaging while driving. This ban applies to all drivers in Rhode Island and is considered to be a "primary" offense, meaning the police can pull over drivers for that offense alone.
