EXPERIENCE
Attorney Kimberly A. Petta is a rising star in the areas of
drunk driving (DUI, DWI, OUI) and
criminal defense. In 2011, she was the only attorney in Rhode Island recognized as a rising
star in the area of DUI defense. Besides her work in the DUI and criminal
defense fields, she has concentrated experience in the areas of cybercrimes,
expungements and social host violations.

EDUCATION
Attorney Petta graduated
magna
cum laude from Roger Williams University School of Law where she received her Juris
Doctorate in 2009. During law school, Attorney Petta was a Rule Nine student
attorney for the criminal justice and legal assistance clinic. She also
worked in the criminal division of the Department of Attorney General
and she clerked for Judge Edward Clifton of the Rhode Island Superior
Court. While in law school, Attorney Petta was a research assistant for
Professor Anne Lawton and aided in the publication of:
Lawton & Oswald,
Scary Stories and the Limited Liability Polluter in Chapter 11, 65 Washington & Lee Law Review 451 (2008).
Attorney Petta graduated
cum laude from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with
a Minor in Political Science in 2006.
ADMITTED TO PRACTICE
In 2010, Attorney Petta was admitted to practice in both Rhode Island and
Massachusetts. In 2011, Attorney Petta was admitted to practice before
the U.S. District Court, District of Rhode Island.

Attorney Petta is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, the Newport
County Bar Association, the Rhode Island Association of Criminal Defense
Lawyers, the National College of DUI Defense and the Rhode Island Association
