Cranston Police Drug Bust

As reported by Amanda Milkovits in the September 2, 2010 edition of the Providence Journal, a routine traffic stop led to a major drug bust.  Police pulled over a man in Cranston for speeding.  During the course of the stop, police learned that the driver was on probation as a result of drug convictions.  The police then searched the man's car and found a backpack containing cash and smelling of marijuana.  After the traffic stop was completed, the police obtained a search warrant for the driver's home.

A search of the man's home produced vast amount of drugs.  The police found $500,000 worth of marijuana, $10,000 worth of cocaine and Percocet pills.  The police tracked the man to a hotel in Seekonk, MA.  He has been arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of cocaine with intent to deliver.   These new charges are identical to the drug charges for which he was on probation.  In 2005, he pled to possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and other charges and served three (3) years at the Adult Correctional Institute (ACI).

It is possible that more drugs have yet to be uncovered.  When the police spoke with the man about searching his house, he stated they could search his mother's home instead.  The man told police that they would find marijuana there.
