Rhode Island Drug Bust
As reported by Katie Mulvaney in the February 4, 2011 edition of the Providence Journal three (3) men have been arrested in connection with a large drug bust. Rhode Island State Police seized over one (1) million dollars in cash, 145 pounds of cocaine and weapons. The cocaine had a street value exceeding six (6) million dollars. All three (3) men have been charged with possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy to possess drugs.
The men were alleging part of a Mexican drug cartel and transported the drugs from California to Rhode Island. The State Police, in response to a tip, began surveillance of three men. Although all three (3) were out of state resident, they were using a North Kingstown storage facility to store the seized drugs and cash.
